Yesterday (28 November 2013) we were able to interview Paula Hannemann, the German Director of the online petition platform www.change.org. This initiative was presented on 28 November 2013 at the World Forum for Democracy together with the Russian Public Initiative that we already reported on earlier.

In the very same article, we raised the question of “slacktivism”: people engage online in, for example, petitions and think they made their impact. Amongst others, Paula Hannemann comments on slacktivism, the power and constraints of online petitions, and how they can help to strengthen democracy.
