Instagram now boasts over 200,000 advertisers and more than 400 million active users. However, Facebook has another opportunity to create a direct connection to consumers and turn more accounts into moneymaking parts of its business.
Instagram is now adopting some of the Facebook features for its own profiles such as categorizing companies by type and letting users reach out using a contact button. Once tapped, this Instagram contact button lets you send an email to the business owner or get directions to the nearest outlet. Testing the new profile was only available to a small number of users and screenshots of the experimental profiles were first posted on social media blog Later.com.
Even though Instagram has long allowed brands and businesses to create accounts on its platform, it has failed to include extra features that would allow companies to interact directly with users. Therefore, the new Instagram business profiles would not only be an important step for Instagram, but also for businesses using the platform.
